WILBRAHAM — Water Commissioners discuss fire hydrant cost-sharing with Fire Department. The hydrant in front of the Fire Department, damaged for six months during training use, currently costs approximately $1,200 per repair while the Fire Department pays $4,600 annually toward general maintenance. Superintendent Vinnie Pafumi proposed separate charging for these repairs, but the board deferred decision pending review of the existing agreement.
The Water Department will begin hydrant flushing in the coming weeks following completion of a DEP-required standard operating procedure, and the Brookmont Pump Station project is expected to begin in the coming months.
