Finance Committee approves 13 department budgets, raises tree-warden spending.

Finance Committee · Meeting of March 18, 2026

WILBRAHAM — Finance Committee approves 13 budgets on March 18, advancing $10.9 million in administrative and municipal spending. Chair Todd Schneider's panel voted unanimously to fund police at $3,165,902 (including two replacement cruisers at $126,000 despite a Select Board recommendation for one) and highway at $1,939,036 after committee-suggested budget adjustments. Police Chief Ed Lennon addressed the cruiser question during a lengthy debate; the Fire Department budget, including a dispute over hiring two versus four firefighters, was deferred pending Select Board attendance, while the committee moved $150,000 from highway roads-and-paving to free cash to help offset potential fire-staffing costs.
