Wilbraham Historical Commission approves prior minutes, reviews formal resident request on Crane Park. Concerned residents submitted a letter asking the commission to determine whether the proposed alteration of the 130-year-old memorial green space--which includes parking and roadway reconfiguration under a $50,000 American Rescue Plan grant--is consistent with historic character protections. Jeff Smith, Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee, presented the Village Center Pedestrian Access and Safety Plan, which proposes parking in front of the Old Post Office and traffic-calming measures while preserving the Civil War monument and its two time capsules.
The commission will issue an advisory opinion at its April 21 meeting.
